In The Light

This morning I was singing a song to God about being in His wonderful presence. I decided to then look up scriptures about being in God’s presence. That’s how I chose the word for today from Psalm 89:15,16.

“Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you.” Acclaim means “to shout sounds of joy and enthusiastic approval.” This makes me think of King David as he came back with the ark of God, he came into his town with singing and dancing before the Lord. (2 Sam. 6:14) This was a time for great rejoicing and he did it with all of his heart.

I’d like to ask this question. How do we acclaim God? Do we do it in songs of worship and praise? Do we acclaim Him in our prayers that are like an incense to Him? Ask God this question, “How can I acclaim you today?” See what He says and stand up and do it by faith.

“Who walk in the light of Your presence, Lord.” Psalm 43:3 tells us, “Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide me.” The light of the sun enables us to fully see where to walk. The light of the Lord illuminates the way he wants us to walk. To walk in his ways is to walk in his light. What are God’s ways? They are what the word sums up as goodness, righteousness and truth. Ephesians 5:8,9 says “You were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth.” I’d encourage you to do a word study on these three words and see what you learn. It will most certainly enlighten your path.

“They celebrate your righteousness.” The hebrew word for righteousness is sedaqah. It means justice, right actions, and right attitudes. We can celebrate and praise Him because He is a God of justice. Psalm 103:6 says that, “The Lord works righteousness and justice for the oppressed.” “He also secures justice for the poor and upholds the cause of the needy.” (Psalm 140:12) He is constantly working on the behalf of his people and this world he created. How do you see this in the world today? What are some good examples of our God who fights for justice?

Let’s choose today to walk in the LIGHT, rejoice in God’s name, and celebrate His righteousness! He is worthy of all the praise and adoration that we have. Celebrate God, glory in Him, walk in the light!
